Oak Tree, Reclaimed wood tree sculpture

Made to order to look very similar to the one in the picture. 

Dimensions: 60" high 40" wide x 2"deep

This geometric shaped tree sculpture is completely made from old reclaimed White Oak Hardwood salvaged from an old horse fence in my area. There is up to 4 layers of wood that make up this art piece. The back drop of the tree is the underneath layer of the white Oak which gives the tree some contrast. The tree is made up of very old weathered grey White Oak, that also has traces of moss and liken growing on the surface of the wood which I am able to preserve. All of the colors that make up the art piece are 100% natural in color, which means I did not use any stains or paints. The entire piece has been clear coated twice with a water based low voc satin finish to preserve it.

A lot time went into the making of this piece, I have logged over 140 hours in just the building process. What makes these pieces so difficult to build is that I have no images or pattern to go off of just what is an my imagination, so when I start to place the pieces that make up the tree I have one shot and it cannot be undone like a painting. Once the pieces are glued they are permanently fixed to the piece, so every move an decision I make makes the difference on how the final outcome of the piece is going to look like. This is why these pieces take time.

Pictures do not do this large piece justice, when light and shadow hits this piece it comes alive.

Each art piece is hand signed and dated in the back and also has a custom made laser engraved wood name tag mounted on the side of the piece.
