Ocean Cityscape: reclaimed wood wall sculpture

I built this art piece to evoke an overhead snap shot of a Ocean Cityscape.

First, I chose wood for the ocean which consists of an old wood that has been weathered outside for years which gave it its blue color. I lined the water with a sand beach border and then chose some mossy green pieces to mimic a mix of grass and sand. Lastly, I built the cityscape in which the buildings vary in height from 3/4” to 2” tall.
This artwork is made of old reclaimed wood from various barns and homes in my area.
All the colors you see have not been stained or painted; it has the original coloring from being weathered over the years. What you see is the natural color of the wood that has been aged for over 80 to 120 years.
I installed a 2” deep solid hardwood border around the art piece that has been stained in a ebony finish to give the piece some contrast and a more modern look.
The entire piece has been sealed with 2 quotes of low VOC water based sealer to preserve and protect the wood without taking away from the look and texture of the reclaimed wood.
There are no faux finishes in the world that can duplicate the colors and textures that Mother Nature creates. There is just something about wood that has been aged for over 80 years that produce the most unique array of colors and textures.

Each art piece is hand signed and dated in the back.
